Description

Aldrovanda Vesiculosa loc Okavango Swamp, Botswana

Description
  • We are beyond excited to finally add waterwheel plants to our selection of brand new Cultivo-exclusive plant offers
  • Aldrovanda vesiculosa, commonly known as the waterwheel plant, is the only species in the plant genus Aldrovanda
  • Waterwheel plants are free floating carnivorous plants that grow submerged in acidic, peaty water, capturing small aquatic invertebrates such a protozoa and mosquito wigglers
  • Even though Aldrovanda is part of the sundew family, these rootless, aquatic plants use tiny traps similar to those of the infamous venus flytrap to trap prey and is generally vary rare in collections
  • Waterwheel plants are extremely endangered in the wild and might be challenging to grow in cultivation - this one is not for the faint of heart
