At Cultivo, we pride ourselves on bringing the best quality and variety of carnivorous plants to South Africa. As specialists in the rare and collectables of the carnivorous plant world, we import most of our plants from renowned carnivorous plant specialists and nurseries around the globe. This ensures that we offer you rare species, once-off collector's items, unique varieties and one-of-a-kind seed-grown originals
In our latest video, we take you through the journey of our newest imports. These plants undergo intrinsic tests due to pest control measures before they are shipped to us. As per customs regulations, plants arrive bareroot (without soil) with trimmed pitchers.Β Due to seasonal differences, plants are often shipped during their winter dormancy making them appear very small. This makes the transition to our South African climate easier and safer
Fresh imports are usually sold at a reduced price while we unpack - once they are potted up and hit the lights for acclimatisation, the price goes back up and plants are listed as "early access"
New plants are typically grown out for a minimum of 6 months to ensure they are perfectly acclimatised before being made available in our collector's section on the website. This rigorous process guarantees that you receive healthy, well-established plants that will thrive in your collection
