Description
DESCRIPTION
- BCP ID# P269, P542, 2043, 2210
- Large variety mexican butterwort species with location data. Produces small white and purple flowers and rounded leaves with a tinge of red on the edges if grown in bright light
- Note that butterworts have very shallow roots and are generally sent bareroot, packed and protected to minimise damage - In this case we have 2 winter rosettes available in 5cm pots and will be sent as pictured
PLANT CARE
- Grow butterworts in partial sun or very bright filtered light and keep the soil only damp to the touch, year round
- Great for beginners, mexican butterworts are easy to grow and fantastic candidates for a sunny windowsill or protected area outdoors with moderate to bright light
- To prevent rot, pinguicula prefers a loose, open soil with a good balance between water retention and drainage. We use our Butterwort PROmix for all our mexican butterworts, with excellent results
Winter dormancy
- During the autumn and winter months, butterworts die back significantly to a tight rosette with tiny non-carnivorous leaves, making them appear much smaller than listed
- Larger growth (sizes as indicated) in the form of new summer leaves are expected during summer
- Should you be unfamiliar with this plant species, head over to our FAQ section for more information on what to expect when ordering from us during the colder months >> Temperate plants and winter dormancy: What to expect

Disclaimer
- Just a quick heads-up: Since plants are natural products, you might notice some slight variations when unboxing your plants
- We do our best to make sure the plants you receive look like the ones in the photos, but keep in mind that seasons change and plants grow. Some leaves might age and die off, new ones might sprout and the plants may look a bit different over time
- 99% of what we sell are one-of-a-kind collector items, so you will receive the exact plant pictured. The labels are spot on, so even if the plant looks a bit different, we 100% guarantee it's the real deal
- Also, all the photos you see are of our own plants unless we mention otherwise. We update images occasionally to keep things fresh. If you want to see updated pictures before you buy, just let us know – we're happy to help!
